Objectives
This assignment focuses on humanitarian FOSS (HFOSS) projects, including the FarmData2 project. You will explore the structure and mission of HFOSS projects, and learn about the FarmData2 project in particular.
Minimal knowledge and experience to acquire include the following:
1. Knowledge of existing large-scale HFOSS projects
Be familiar with the mission and current Deployments of at least two large-scale HFOSS projects. Examples to look at include:
- Medical: OpenMRS, OpenEMR, DHIS2, GNU Health
- Disaster Response and Crisis Management: Sahana, Ushahidi, HOT (Humanitarian OpenStreetMap Team) / OpenStreetMap
- Education: Kolibri, Oppia
- Humanitarian Operations: KoboToolbox
2. Knowledge of FarmData2
Be familiar with the FarmData2 project, which originated at Dickinson. Get to know the overall structure and mission, together with the following more detailed content in the main FarmData2 repo:
- How are communications handled within the project?
- What license is the code distributed under?
- What are some important guidelines for contributing?
- What are some important aspects of the code of conduct?
